The Maori God of Earthquakes and Volcanoes

Ruaumoko carving imageRuaumoko is a state of the art suite of applications specifically designed to undertake dynamic elastic and inelastic analysis of structures subjected to earthquake and other dynamic loadings.

Ruaumoko3D is the core program of the Ruaumoko suite. Designed to undertake elastic and inelastic analysis of structures, this program builds on the features of the original 2D version and provides for full three dimensional modeling. With unparalleled versatility and a vast array of modeling options, including over forty hysteretic rules for describing member behaviour, Ruaumoko provides the most comprehensive group of applications available to the specialist seismic design and research engineer.

Ruaumoko has been employed throughout the world in both institutions of academic research and professional practice. It has been applied in the study of the dynamic performance of concrete, steel and timber structures such as buildings and bridges. The program has also been used in the evaluation of seismic isolation systems and investigations into pounding of buildings when subjected to ground excitations.

No other non-linear dynamic analysis program for earthquake engineering has the capabilities of Ruaumoko in terms of structural modeling, the forms of excitation, or supporting applications. Analysis programs are supplied together with post-processing programs and other utility programs that are essential to researchers and designers working in the field of earthquake engineering.
